Can Unisom combined with Vitamin B6 Reduce morning sickness?
I have recently learned that I am pregnant. I have also recently discovered the joys of morning, afternoon, and night sickness. Aa nurse recommended taking unisom and B6 at night before sleeping. I don't usually take any medication of any kind, and I am worried about the affect it might have on the baby. Also, I am taking a prenatal vitamin already. Is that too much B6? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Yes it really does! I wish I had know about it with my 1st daughter, but I have a new OBGYN ( a much better one) with this baby! This is fron the hand out that my Dr's office gave me:
"The only drug the US FDA has declared to be safe and effective for morning sickness (Bendectin) may be marketed again as Diclectin by a Canadian firm. Until then, you get the same thing by taking Vit B6 25-50mg twice a day and Unisom (doxylamine, an antihistamine) one at bedtime and 1/2 in the morning. This combination works best as a preventative, so take it routinely."
I personally only take 1/2 a Unisom at night and skip the day one or I would be asleep all the time!
Works Great!!
