Nausea and pregnancy go hand in hand for many women. It can be mild nausea, or extreme nausea that lasts all day, for months at a time. Here are some natural effective treatments for this nausea.
And if that isn't bad enough, morning sickness usually is more than just "morning sickness"... it can last all day. Also, a pregnant women needs to exercise caution regarding the medication she take, because there are so many chemicals that can harm an unborn baby. So, because morning sickness can be debilitating, and medications for pregnant women can have terrible consequences, herbal treatments for nausea are often taken. Here are some things you can do that are proven to reduce morning sickness symptoms:
Step 1: Don't let your stomach become empty. An empty stomach can be the reason for morning sickness during pregnancy. To keep a stomach with food in it, you need to do 2 things... First, eat 6 small meals a day, rather than 1 big meal. Second, keep a bland, salty food by the bed such as crackers, and eat a serving whenever you wake up. Do this whether it is the middle of the night, or first thing in the morning. Keeping food in the stomach can help some women reduce the nausea, and it is an extremely safe method of doing so.
Step 2: Avoid fatty and fried foods. These can cause stomach pain and problems, and arn't good for the body anyway.
Step 3: It is important to drink lots of fluids, particularly water. Stay away from carbonated sugary drinks like soda, and avoid caffeine.
Step 4: If the nausea occurs, use a peppermint oil inhalation technique to suppress it. Simply drop 1 - 3 drops of the essential oil peppermint on a napkin, hold the napkin near the mouth and nose and breath in. Peppermint essential oil can sooth and reduce the nausea feelings. This is so effective, that it was published as a treatment for nausea in the September 1997 issue of "The Journal of Advanced Nursing", a renowned supplementary medical journal.
Step 5: Take a vitamin B6 Supplement. This been common knowledge for a while, but only recently has been used to stop morning sickness. In the 1940's, two studies were conducted on a total of over 350 women and concluded the same thing: taking 25 mg - 60 mg of B6 each day can prevent or greatly reduce morning sickness. Ideally, you should take it 3 times per day, in a 10 mg dosage per time - 20 mg capsules at a time. Once as soon as you wake before anything else, once in the middle of the day, and one time at night before bed. Never take more than 100 mg a day, because nerve problems are possible with more than 100 mg a day.
Although not all approaches or techniques will work for all women, each one of these steps has been studied and proven to be effective for some. Always consult a doctor before doing anything while pregnant, since pregnancy is a very sensitive medical condition, and there are many ways to accidentally affect your babies growth and development. Even though these treatments are organic or natural, they still require the supervision of a doctor or other medical professional.
